Getting to Puerto Banus

If you are coming to Malaga for holidays, getting to Puerto Banus is quite easy. From Malaga I recommend to hire a car at Malaga airport, another option is the public bus as there is no train to Marbella from Malaga.

Marbella and Puerto Banus are well connected city by major means of transport. Marbella can be accessed either through the Mediterranean motorway A-7 (old N 340), and through the Costa del Sol motorway (AP-7).

Puerto Banus is close to Marbella, and if you are at the city center without your own vehicle, public bus will take you there in a few minutes.

Marbella & Puerto Banus: Exclusivity and glamour

If there is a place where exclusivity and glamor and elegance come together that's the world famous Puerto Banus. Spectacular yatchs, dream cars, stores with exclusive brands, restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

Marbella stands out for its privileged climate. The average annual temperature around 18.5 º C, with 320 days of sunshine annually. The weather stations do not represent major changes and rain in our town do not usually exceed 50 days per year, with the months of December and January showed the highest rainfall.

Luxury tourism in Marbella

Sometimes it seems that celebrities agree to convert a place in a trendy destination. Of course, when this happens it´s because the place deserves it. This is the case of Marbella, considered by many the undisputed capital of the Costa del Sol, and a summer resort favoured by celebrities worldwide.

And, honouring the truth, in Spain there might not be another city with such a brilliant career as Marbella. The list of celebrities who at some point in their lives have chosen this Mediterranean city as a destination for their vacation and even as a residence, is long and varied.

All this furore over the city on the Costa del Sol began long ago when Europe was still trembling under the effects of World War II. Ricardo Soriano, a noble aristocrat who in 1943 came to Marbella and, provided with a strong corporate look, launched the first hotel in the area, giving the green light to luxury tourism in the city.

The work of Ricardo Soriano to promote Marbella was invaluable. Among those he spoke about the benefits of the city was his nephew, Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe, who also made numerous investments in the Costa del Sol and built the Marbella Club, in the now famous Golden Mile.

Shortly thereafter, the summers in Marbella was a meeting place of the best families in Europe, such as Bismarck or Rothschild. And as well from exotic countries: King Fahd of Saudi Arabia made Marbella his second home.

Times change, and with them, also Marbella. If something stays the same, is the sun that bathes its beaches, always brimming with beautiful people wanting to relax, enjoy and have fun. The more nostalgic can stroll the Boulevard of Fame in Puerto Banus in search of big names, to finish the evening in one of its fine restaurants and pubs: the best place to see and be seen.

Beaches in Marbella

If there is a traditional seaside destination in Spain this is undoubtedly Marbella, the most popular resort of the entire Andalusian province of Malaga.

At this popular location on the Costa del Sol beautiful urban beaches are combined with luxury and glamour along 27 kilometers of coastline, where often we can get a glimpse some of the national and international celebrities strolling in yachts or in their convertibles.

In short, a place you should go at least once in life. Have you planned to visit in your next vacation? Don’t waste more time and list some of its best beaches.

  • San Pedro: One of the most popular and crowded beaches of the town, especially during the summer months. Along its thousand metres you enjoy an active environment with beach bars and a good range of activities (windsurfing, jet skis, pedal boats, etc...).
  • Puerto Banus: Perhaps you've heard about it more than once; this beach is quite coveted. With 1kilometre of white, fine sand this beach offers all sorts of services and leisure, not only on the coast but also along the promenade that runs along the coast. Here we find some of the most exclusive Beach Clubs in the area.
  • Nueva Andalucía: As the above it is quite crowded in summer due to the leisure offer in the beach which nevertheless is magnificent, with white sand and clear water.
  • Cortijo Blanco: This is the perfect beach to take a step back from the bustle of the tourist areas. It is quiet, with some basic services and a rather reduced leisure offer.

These are just some of the most important, but altogether Marbella has about 24 beaches with a usually medium or high occupation. Some others are Rio Verde, Guadalmina, Linda Vista, Casablanca, Anton, Fontanilla, La Bajadilla, El Faro or Nagüeles.

Marbella is situated 50 kilometres from Malaga airport and has good transport links by the motorway A-7 for those who choose Malaga airport transfers or car hire Malaga when arrival to Malaga airport.
